The Maïdo Flight takes off at 2,200 m, facing the Cirque de Mafate and Piton des Neiges, which tops out at 3,070 m. It is the highest and the longest flight at Air Lagon.
The flight
A short walk through the forest leads to the edge of the rampart. You launch facing the cirques, and the flight is thermal: forty-five to sixty minutes in the air, up to a full hour. The view carries over the ramparts, the forest and the interior of the island, a landscape the coastal flights never show. Acrobatics are included, on a simple word. The state-certified instructor holds the controls from take-off to landing.
Who it is for
For passengers who come above all for the heights and for the time in the air. The flight is open from 20 to 120 kg. The approach walk asks you to be comfortable on a forest path, and no more. The package runs with two people minimum.
Good to know
Allow €299 per person, transfer to the take-off included. Set aside the whole morning, travel included. We meet near Kélonia, at the northern entrance to Saint-Leu, fifteen minutes before the agreed time. The HD photo and video option adds a GoPro on board for the whole flight, for €20.
