Frequently Asked Questions

This page gathers the questions passengers ask most often. They cover the tandem flight at Saint-Leu, before, during and after. The answers are short and direct, meant to be read before booking. You will find the access conditions: age, weight, fitness. How a flight unfolds is here too, with the prices and the cancellation policy. Reaching the take-off site has its answer, near Kélonia. Questions on the paragliding school and solo training fill the last section. The Air Lagon school has flown since 1984 and has completed over 50,000 flights. Most of these answers come from the ground. Flights leave from Les Colimaçons, at 800 metres, or from Le Maïdo, at 2,200 metres.

Before the Flight

7 questions

A tandem flight takes a few minutes to set up, with no experience and no gear of your own. The state-certified instructor flies the wing; the passenger simply enjoys it. The activity is open from age 4 to over 80, for a weight between 20 and 120 kg. You meet at Saint-Leu, near Kélonia, fifteen minutes before the agreed time. A shuttle then drives up to the take-off site. Bring closed shoes and a light jacket: the air is cooler at 800 metres than down by the lagoon. Booking runs online, by phone or through WhatsApp, ideally 24 to 48 hours ahead. Fear of heights, often dreaded, does not show up in flight: it comes from looking down from a fixed point. The questions below cover each of these points.

During the Flight

5 questions

A flight lasts from fifteen minutes to one hour, depending on the package and on the air conditions of the day. Take-off asks for a few running steps, then the wing carries you. Most passengers are struck by how gentle the moment is. The route runs above the turquoise lagoon of Saint-Leu, the coral reefs, the Kélonia turtle centre and the sugar cane fields. Acrobatics are on offer from the Extra Long Flight upwards, and the instructor matches each figure to your comfort. The Photos and HD Video option, at 20 euros, adds an on-board GoPro; the files are handed over after landing. The Vol Découverte runs fifteen to twenty minutes; the Vol du Maïdo goes up to sixty.

Practical Info

9 questions

The landing field sits at 46 Rue Général de Gaulle, at the north entrance of Saint-Leu, next to Kélonia. Parking there is free, and lines 30, 31, 37 and 42 of the Kar'ouest network serve the site. Cancelling stays free up to 48 hours before the flight, and a weather delay costs nothing: Reunion Island offers around 300 flying days a year. Third-party liability cover applies to every passenger. Prices run from 90 euros for the Vol Découverte to 299 euros for the Vol du Maïdo. Air Lagon has also trained solo pilots since 1984, across three levels, up to the pilot licence. A gift voucher stays valid for one year.

Still Have Questions?

The Air Lagon team answers seven days a week, from seven in the morning to six in the evening. The phone stays the quickest channel. A question about availability or weather is better settled by voice, because conditions shift from one hour to the next at Saint-Leu. A WhatsApp message works well to settle a meeting point, near Kélonia. The form suits detailed requests better: group rates, gift vouchers, solo training. For a booking, allow 24 to 48 hours ahead, the lead time the school recommends. The most frequent questions cover the weather of the day, the accepted weight and the minimum age. Each has its answer above. An edge case is settled by voice, at Les Colimaçons as at Le Maïdo.
